The Pursuit of Happyness

I really enjoyed this book! The movie was amazing but it was incredible to read about the beginning of this man's life. How he managed to keep such a positive mood through all the things he went through, not only in childhood but as a young adult and up. I can't even imagine being homeless, much less being homeless while still working. just so sad.

It was an awesome read though! always better than the movies, books are!!

Sarah's Key

I LOVED this book! I love stories that are educational and yet completely engaging. This is set in Paris and goes back and forth in the beginning, from when Sarah and her family are arrested by french officials (for being Jewish) and then summarily sent to be killed in Auschwitz. The combination of her story and the story of the woman who is doing the research for a story in her magazine is quite compelling. And, I had never realized that the french had hated Jews as much as the Germans did.

Totally, totally recommend it. I read it in one day (okay, so I stayed up half the night) but I couldn't put it down. I had to know what was going to happen!

The Art of Racing in the Rain

This was a great read! You will never look at your dog the same again. It is written from the dog's point of view and although it might sound hokey, it is really quite engaging. I don't want to give much away, but if you are in the mood for a great little read, (I did it in a day) then grab this book.

Not a Girl Detective

This was a rather poorly written book but I wanted something that didn't take too much thought. I actually enjoyed it becuase the whole story was based around this woman who wrote a book researched Grace Horton, the Nancy Drew model, and throughout the story they threw in a bunch of tidbits about Nancy Drew history. I absolutely loved the Nancy Drew series while I was growing up so it was fun to see how many of the titles and storylines I remembered along with getting interesting facts about the author and the woman who portrayed her.

Beyond that it was a typical story, the older woman gets drawn into a murder/mystery of course and has to defy the police adn all logic to solve it and in the end her two best friends end up saving her life and everything is happy. I didn't need much from the book but if you are lookingn for a real mystery do not come here.

Sisters

This was a cute and easy read by Steel. I found it at a thrift store and just wanted something fun and not requiring any thinking. Unfortunately it wasn't a very fun read, haha it was actually rather sad. The mom dies and one of the sisters goes blind in this horrid car accident, but how the sisters work together and support each other is very heartening. I'm not a huge fan of Steel's writing, she tends to repeat herself alot and be almost childish in the description but it still drew me in and I definetely connected with the characters still.

Now on to my next non-thinking read!
