The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Well...this book had me going. It was recommended to me by so many different people that I bought it in the fall when I was in New Orleans...but could NOT for the life of me get into it. And so I carried it home on the plane thinking another time.
Then every time since then that I picked it up I still could NOT get into it. The book taunted me as people would ask, have you read....? Anyway, I finally put my nose to the grindstone and was determined to get through it and about half way into it I couldn't put it down.
What really messed with me was all the people and trying to figure out who was who and so many of the damned names started with H!! Anyway...I am glad to have conquered it and actually want to go out and get the sequel...so you can do whatever you want with this one, but I would be curious to know what you all thought!!! I am thinking it is me!!!

I HATED it. I read it for book club like a year ago, before the whole craze started, and was so disgusted by the fact that I had wasted so much time reading this book, cause it's long! It's weird though that everyone is now obsessed with it...kind of makes me want to read it again to see if I missed something but NO! I am currently reading a great book and will not be dragged back to the dark side! lol

I have never had any desire to read this book -- despite all the hype. There is something about the name that just doesn't call to me. I doubt you missed anything Hallie -- I think for the most part people didn't like it so they insisted everyone else read it to share the pain! HAHAHA

Okay, so I read it and I would agree with every comment that Tomasen made above. That is EXACTLY my experience ... she gave me the book and it sat on my shelf for months. The only impetus that got me to read it was that it was for book club. The beginning I thought was tedious in that I had no idea what was going on and kept thinking what does this have to do with the girl with the dragon tattoo? Kind of an odd title, really. But about halfway through it picked up as a mystery and I couldn't put it down.
